IT Laboratories:
SCIT has a fully connected and multi-platform infrastructure consisting of Windows, Linux and Solaris platforms. A wide range of servers and tools from Sun Microsystems, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and open systems companies have been deployed to enrich the learning experience.
Sun ONE Lab:
Sun "Open Network Environment" Lab has three UltraSparc Sun V100 servers running Solaris 8.0 and thirty Sun Ray-1 thin client appliances. The students learn the cutting edge of Web Services technologies using Sun Microsystem and Sun ONE platform in this lab.
Linux Lab:
This lab has over thirty computers running RedHat Linux. Various open source compilers, development environments and databases are installed in the Linux Lab. SCIT has also deployed Oracle 8i on Linux, providing the students a unique opportunity to learn Oracle in a Linux environment.
IBM Lab:
This lab is with thirty computers running Windows operating system. High-End IBM tools like Visual-Age for JAVA have been deployed in this lab. Students also learn IBM DB2 database and also the world' leading application server, IBM WEBSPHERE in this lab.
Networking Lab:
This is an exclusive lab providing a wide range of networking equipment and software for simulating of networking solutions. Students are encouraged to experiment with the technologies and work on development of network solutions. The lab provides infrastructure for many of the SCIT R&D activities.
The lab is equipped with these networking devices: CISCO 800 series, Cisco1700 series routers, 3COM wireless, 3COM Manageable switches, CISCO PIX firewall and CISCO IP telephone.
The SCIT campus is fully wired with over 1000 network connections and the network is built on a high performance Gigabit Ethernet backbone on optical fiber cable. Layer3 switches are used and the campus is connected to Internet 24 hours. |
