SCIT Power Pyramid

SCIT uses "Power Pyramid" to enhance the learner's ability to understand, conceptualize, use and apply knowledge without external supervision.

  • SCIT' comprehensive Academic Policy governs all SCIT programs. The Academic Policy covers all academic functions ranging from programme design to faculty member evaluation. Administration is done by the Academic Administration Council of SCIT.
  • SCIT curriculums are reviewed continually as per technology trends and industry requirements.
  • SCIT has proven processes to deliver a course and also obtain feedback from students, alumni and industry. This feedback is used to assess and enhance our learning systems and curriculum design.

Faculty

  • Members of SCIT faculty are facilitators and mentors, not merely teachers, lecturers and readers. Their role is to guide their students to understand, to gain knowledge and to effectively apply knowledge.
  • SCIT has experienced in-house faculty and a panel of expert visiting faculty. A ratio of 1:5 in-house versus visiting faculty is maintained. Each one is proficient in his/her own field and has qualifications in engineering, computer science, computer/applications and/or experience of having worked in the field of their choice for a number of years.
  • SCIT' focus on "learning" and continuous evaluation allows each faculty to keep track of the progress by a student in the class.

Academic Evaluation

In the continuous evaluation method followed at SCIT the faculty chooses a combination of methods selected from the following.

- In-class participation - Assignments
- Lab Assignments - Surprise Tests
- Mid Term Exams - Open-book Exams
- Term-end Exam - Writing white papers
- Presentations - Projects

Grading Policy

SCIT uses a system of grade points to judge the student's overall performance. The student is awarded letter grades A, B, C, D, F for each subject depending on the relative performance of the student in the class. The letter grades are used to award grade points as per the following table:

Letter Grade Grade Point Value
A 4
B 3
C 2
D 1
E 0

A student getting grade 'F' is considered as failed in that subject. The students are awarded a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) according to the credit points awarded to the subjects. The students are also awarded non-letter grades - 'Excellent', 'Good', 'Satisfactory' and 'Poor', for non-credit activities like workshops, seminars, guest lectures, holistic health management activities etc.

Academic Feedback

At the end of the term, students are required to provide feedback on the faculty.

Coordinator

A Coordinator is the single point contact for the students.

  • The Coordinator looks after student/participant admissions.
  • The Coordinator schedules lectures, labs, workshops etc. as detailed in the course design and the syllabus.
  • The Coordinator interacts with the faculty members and makes all resources required ready for the course delivery.
  • The Coordinator publishes any course material.
  • The Coordinator monitors the attendance, performance, participation of every student and guide them whenever necessary.
  • The Coordinator spends time with the students at the end of every module to ascertain if there are any shortfalls in the instructions, any communication gaps between the students and the teachers, any problems of comprehension and unfulfilled assignments.
  • The Coordinator makes necessary arrangement for members of the faculty to attend orientation programs, courses, workshops etc. from time to time.
  • The Coordinators arranges for a Faculty Mentor to interact with students on a regular basis to attend to their needs, problems and requirements.
